SEATTLE, Wash.—August 8, 2005— Mobliss, a leading provider of mobile marketing and media solutions and services, has been chosen by Mark Burnett Productions to power the SMS voting campaign for CBS’s newest reality series, “Rock Star: INXS, ” in which viewers will be key participants in the search for the next lead singer of the band INXS. “Rock Star: INXS” is the latest major television production to enlist Mobliss to oversee a large-scale North American deployment of simultaneous wireless text messages, this time to allow for SMS voting by select subscribers in the U.S. and all major wireless carriers in Canada. Unlike other high-profile elimination shows, the voting for “Rock Star: INXS” will not include 1-800 voting. Instead, the new reality series will feature only the ability for viewers to vote either online on rockstar.msn.com or via wireless text messaging for the contestants they would most like to return each week. Mobliss is also providing a unique live SMS chat application, allowing viewers the opportunity to chat via text message with hosts Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke, plus ask questions of the hosts and the band. “There is such a passionate fan base for INXS that it was important that we included some type of viewer participation in this project,” said Mark Burnett, creator and executive producer of “Rock Star: INXS.” “Mobliss was, without a doubt, the perfect partner for us, because of their demonstrated ability to handle extremely high volumes of SMS traffic and their proven track record working with top television properties.” Through industry-leading work on broadcast-driven SMS voting solutions, Mobliss has helped define a new category in interactive viewer participation in the U.S. by developing and managing pioneering applications to host massive simultaneous wireless text messaging campaigns for top-rated television productions. “Rock Star: INXS” is Mark Burnett's latest reality show in conjunction with international superstar rock band INXS and CBS Network to search for the next lead singer of the band. The program launched on July 11, 2005, and will include more than 38 episodes in 13 weeks, where contestants are put through a series of tests and competitions to find out who has what it takes to be the next lead singer of INXS.
